"SPRING BAZAAR" AND  "DONATION REQUESTS" INFO BELOW

Every year we choose projects to support from Wiesbaden organizations which meet the following criteria:

  • Projects which represent a variety of age and gender groups
  • These organizations should be run privately and not supported mainly by public funds
  • Ideally, we seek to support projects with an international connection

These are the types of organizations and charities we’ve given donations to in recent years:

  • Support for parents with handicapped children and their siblings
  • Hospice care and grief counseling
  • Lunches for kids in need
  • Support for dementia afflicted patients and their families
  • Children’s choir in a school with a strong immigrant population
  • Personal support for elderly who are not receiving public welfare
  • Various kinds of trauma counseling
  • Help for the homeless
  • Sanctuary for teenagers and young women in emergency situations

Spring Bazaar 2024 - donations

On the occasion of our Spring Bazaar in Wiesbaden's Kurshaus (April 20, 2024), the two presidents Ulrike Jaskulski-Klein and Sarah Szwaj received a donation of EUR 5,000 from Heinz-Dieter Glogowsky and Jens Peter Jens and the board of Dr. Alex and Eva Friend Foundation. Eva Friend, who died in Wiesbaden in 2011, founded this foundation in honor of her first husband, a well-known gynecologist from Chicago; it promotes international understanding and in particular friendship with the USA as well as science.

Since 2018, the foundation has been able to support the Wiesbaden club with EUR 40,000.

Spring Bazaar 2024

The 70th Charity Spring Bazaar on Saturday, April 20, 2024 was more than successful! Rarely before have there been so many people in line half an hour before the opening. To our delight, the crowd was enormous. Because the more we raise at this charity bazaar, the more extensive our help is for many social organizations in Wiesbaden.

The stands were overflowing with great goods, as almost 600 boxes were sorted, packed and unpacked again before the Bazaar. The Bazaar is a challenge for all of us every year. On Friday and Saturday, more than 120 women worked hard, on a voluntary basis, of course. Some husbands were also called in to help. Also as so-called "Wardens" because, as unfortunate as it may sound, there are always people who like to take something without paying for it, even though the prices at our bazaar are very reasonable so that everyone has a chance. And knowing full well that the money raised will be passed on to people who cannot afford to shop here.

This time the raffle went beyond the limit. Almost 700 great prizes delighted their winners.

And with a magical cookbook you had just won under your arm, you could enjoy the new recipes with a glass of champagne and delicious homemade cakes in our “German-American Coffee”. All in all, our club was more than satisfied with the work and the financial result and we are already looking forward to next year.

The next charity spring bazaar will take place on March 22, 2025 - save the date now!

Christmas for children

Parohia Hârsova Vasluis Alben

December 2020

Thousands of thanks to Mrs. Deborah Cole, the Church of St. Augustine of Canterbury in Wiesbaden, Christ the King Church in Frankfurt am Main as they chose to bring a smile to the children’s faces too. We were happy to take part in this initiative as well. The little ones were excited when they received their gifts.

We are grateful that they think about us every year when trying to make the children’s Christmas more beautiful. We send our regards, and wish everybody a happy New Year.
